Les Âmes Perdues digs. Not with shovel and boots, but with voice, accordion, cello, piano and recorder. For this creation, the Antwerp-based music-theatre trio delves into the layered past of De Notelaer and the Scheldt flowing beside it. What they discover begins to sound.

Take part in a musical walk around the pavilion, where we wander, pause and listen. The Scheldt is not a backdrop but a driving force: trade route, boundary, quiet keeper of stories. What it has carried for centuries rises again here in music.

The repertoire moves freely and without borders: from light to salt-tinged, from exuberant to intimate, from Renaissance dances by Tylman Susato to chansons by Kurt Weill and Edith Piaf, songs by Boudewijn De Groot and Willem Vermandere, with a touch of Poulenc and a hint of Boris Vian. A vivid sonic landscape, mingling and shifting like water along the riverbank.

De Notelaer - pavillion

Along the Scheldt dike in Hingene, you come across a striking building: the Notelaer Pavilion. The pavilion was constructed in the late 18th century in a neoclassical style. It served as a hunting lodge and a festive reception space for the noble d’Ursel family. The pavilion was part of their castle estate in Hingene and was used to welcome guests with a view of the Scheldt. The circular salon in particular, with its magnificent parquet floor and historic interior, is breathtaking. During the perfomance you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
